Background Project Output

Maria Carla Piastra was born in Genova, Italy, in 1988. She studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Genova, where she got both the Bachelor (2010) and the Master (2012) degrees. She then won a position as PhD student at the University of Genova, at the faculty of BioEngineering. In those years at the University of Genova she had the opportunity to develop a deep knowledge especially on numerical analysis, probability, inverse problems, imaging and some programming. In the last part of her studies she then approach Neuroscience and the contribution given by mathematical applications to that, starting studying the problem of source reconstruction with stereo-EEG dataset. She then spent some months working in collaboration with PD Dr. Carsten Wolters and his group in Münster, Germany. Currently she is employed as Early Stage Researcher, for ChildBrain project, at the UniKlinik of Münster, in Dr. Wolters' group, under the supervision also of Prof. Christian Engwer, from the Applied Mathematics faculty of the University of Münster.
